Scituate: Bomb squad examines possible explosive device found in ocean

The State Police Bomb Squad made a trip to Scituate Friday afternoon to examine a possible explosive device found in the ocean by fishermen.

Scituate police say they got a report at around 5:15 Friday that fishermen had found what they think could be an old military ordinance on the ocean floor.

Scituate police and fire responded to the pier, and alerted the State Police Bomb Squad, who came to the pier to examine the item. As of 6 p.m. Friday there was no word on the identity of the item.
