A man riding a bicycle reportedly fell off his bike and was struck by a tractor trailer truck on Route 28 southbound on the Bourne Bridge around 5:40 this morning. The victim, a 55 year-old man, was trapped in the undercarriage of the truck with serious injuries.
Officers from the state police barracks in Bourne, Yarmouth, and Middleboro responded to the scene. Due to the rescue efforts, the bridge was ordered shut down. The victim was extricated and Medflighted from the scene just after 6:00 a.m. The bridge was reopened at 6:30 a.m. The accident remains under investigation.
