Carver: Voters head to annual town meeting tonight

A 40 article Annual Town Meeting warrant and a 7 article Special Town Meeting warrant will be addressed by Carver residents tonight at the Annual Town Meeting.

Article 5, on the Annual Town Meeting warrant, has a number of requests for capital expenditures, including $80,000 for two new police vehicles, and $44,500 for a new vehicle for the Fire Department.

There is also a request from the School Department for $1.6 million.

Among the items requested by the School Superintendent are new student lockers in the Middle/High School building, resurfacing the school’s track, replacement of seats in the auditorium, an upgrade to the locker rooms, 4 new school buses and a number of technology upgrades.

Among the Community Preservation Committee articles is a request for close to $95,000 to renovate the exterior of the Major Thomas B. Griffith Memorial Hall.

Also on the warrant are 7 citizen’s petition articles.

Town Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at Carver High School.
