Cohasset: Officials increase beach/transfer station sticker fees

Cohasset unanimously voted to raise the town’s combination trash transfer station and beach sticker fees at their meeting Tuesday night, to make up for a financial deficit at the transfer station.

The sticker fees are being raised for all residents, including seniors.

For regular family use, the fee for the first care will go from $50.00 to $65.00 and the sticker for the second car will cost $35.00. The age for seniors is being raised from 60 to 65 and the fee will be raised from $15.00 to $25.00 and the second car will also be $25.00”, Board of Selectmen Chair Paul Carlson explained.

However, Carlson said that there is help for seniors and others, who might have trouble affording the increased fees.

“For individuals and seniors who have trouble handling the larger fees, we do have a backup plan. Please contact Coral Grande, the head of the Counsel on Elder Affairs, whether you are elder or not. She will be set up to review these request and come up with some appropriate accommodation”.

Large trash bags are also going up from $1.50 to $2.00 and small trash bags are being increased from .75 cents to $1.00.
