Hingham Selectman Bruce Rabuffo dispelled any rumors Thursday night, that town officials have already made a decision to take over the Aquarion Water Company, the town’s for-profit water provider.
Reading from a prepared statement, Rabuffo denied the rumor that as far as town officials are concerned, the acquisition of the Aquarion Water Company is basically a ‘done deal’.
“We have heard the rumor, that some may think that the leadership of the town may have already decided to buy the water company. That is not true. In fact, this committee could make any one of three recommendations; to buy, not to buy, or to offer another proposed solution towards managing our water. The committee understands that and I know this Board of Selectmen does as well”, Rabuffo said.
Selectmen also unanimously voted to name Aquarion Water Acquisition Study Committee Interim Chairman John Asher as the permanent chairman of the committee.
Selectman Rabuffo said the committee is putting together a website, which should be up and running by late next week.
Rabuffo said, “At the website you will be able to see their minutes and many of the public information documents they are using. For example, you will be able to see the 1985 study, the recent D.P.U. rate decision, the 2009 study of the Hingham Light Plant and other papers of interest”.
You can access the committee’s website through the town website, http://www.hingham-ma.com/
