By a ten-to-one margin, voters in Lakeville have shot down a proposal from the Wampanoag Tribe of Acquinnah to build a casino in their town.
The vote count was just 172 in favor and 1,735 against the casino plan.
Last Tuesday, voters in nearby Freetown rejected a proposed casino that would have been built off Route 140 that would be run by the Acquinnah tribe.
And in Taunton, the city council recently voted 6-1 in favor of a casino by the Mashpee Wampanoags. Taunton voters will have a chance to make their feelings known in a citywide referendum next Saturday.
