Hollywood is making its way to Green Harbor.

Marshfield Selectmen gave filmmakers their blessing Monday night, to shoot an independent movie called The Way Way Back.

Shooting will take place for a few weeks in July, in around Green Harbor.

Movie Producer Kevin Walsh told the Marshfield Board of Selectmen, “We’re making this great little PG-13 coming of age story. The stars are Steve Carell, one of your local residents, Toni Collette, who I’ve worked with and who’s a terrific actress, Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney, Amanda Peet, Rob Corddry; we’ve really kind of packed a great cast in this tiny, little, $4.7 million dollar movie”.

The movie will focus on a house at 172 Bay Street.

Executive Producer George Parra said that filming shouldn’t create too many problems for local residents.

“We will not impede any traffic situations, except for when we’re filming on the street, which is very infrequent. It may be once or twice a week and we’ll be more specific with the police department as to exactly when those dates are. There will in no way be any sort of stoppage of homeowners going home or leaving home, or anything like that”, Parra said.

Filming for The Way Way Back is scheduled to take place for two weeks, from July 12 – 27.
