Pembroke residents make their voices heard during Saturday’s Special Election, voting down three Proposition 2-1/2 override questions.
A $343,000 request to hire four firefighter-paramedics was defeated 999 to 583 votes.
A $686,992 request for eight firefighter-paramedics, was turned away by a vote of 1,214 to 370.
Pembroke voters also said “no” to a question asking for $61,074 to hire a general reference librarian, by 1,299 to 285 votes.
The town reported a 14-percent turnout.
