The AFL-CIO, one of the state’s largest labor unions released the following statement, after the Utility Workers Union of America Local 369 said that plant owner Entergy locked out unionized employees after contract negotiations ended Tuesday.
“We condemn Entergy Corp’s disgraceful lockout of the hardworking men and women who safely operate Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant. Louisiana based Entergy, which makes more than a million dollars a day from Pilgrim Nuclear, cares little for the safety and wellbeing of Massachusetts communities and workers. We urge Governor Patrick and Attorney General to bring all their resources to bear to hold Entergy accountable for its irresponsible actions, and if necessary, to close Pilgrim Nuclear until these contract and critical safety issues can be resolved.”
