Abington: Historic home falls victim to lightning

Wednesday afternoon, Drew Hall and a friend were playing video games when his home on Route 58 was struck by lightning, causing an immediate fire in the attic. The pair safely left the house. The owner of home built in 1765, Hall’s grandmother, was away on vacation.

But due to multiple calls, Abington required the assistance of Brockton and Weymouth departments to put out the lightning fire which was contained to the attic, though the second floor suffered water and smoke damage.

According to the Abington Fire Chief, one firefighter suffered a minor injury on scene and was transported to South Shore Hospital as a precaution.
