Braintree: Police say drunk driver struck water department truck

Braintree police say a Plymouth woman appeared to be drunk when she crashed her vehicle into a town-owned truck, at a site where town water and sewer department workers were attempting to repair a water main break.

Witnesses says the woman appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed by Pond Street and Wayne Avenue at about 5 a.m. Sunday morning, when she crossed over into the other lane and crashed into the water department’s truck, and forcing several of the workers to jump out of the way.

Police allege the woman was possibly intoxicated and was confrontational with paramedics. She was taken to the hospital.

The woman has not been charged yet, but will face several charges including operating under the influence.
