Braintree: Woman dies in Route 3 crash

The driver involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Route 3 northbound last night in Braintree around 7:15 p.m. has died.

Troopers from the State Police Barracks in Milton responded to the crash.

All five occupants sustained serious injuries. The female operator, considered to have the worst injuries at the time of the crash, was later pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center. Her name and hometown have not been released.

The rest of the victims were transported to area hospitals by ambulance. Two were transported to South Shore Hospital and the remaining three, including the deceased driver, were transported Boston Medical Center. The cause of the crash, which remains under investigation, is unknown at this time.
