Jesse, a 21 year-old Quarter Horse, can’t talk like the equine television star Mr. Ed but he’s become famous in his own right for his paintings.
The equine artist took a break from his usual gig with ‘Ponies for Parties’ to debut his most recent collection at Cravings Café in Marshfield.
Jesse’s owner and the CEO of ‘Ponies for Parties’, Derel Twombly, says she discovered his talent while he was recovering from a leg injury, “He was very unhappy about not interacting with people or the general public so I thought what I can do that will be a non-athletic endeavor that will still be a positive stimulus for him.”
But how does he do it?
“He’s motivated by treats. He holds the brush in his mouth and he does one brush stroke at a time,” says Twombly
For the entire month of August, colorful paintings by Jesse will be on sale at Cravings Café in Marshfield.
The asking price for a canvas painting is $100, but Twombly says they will take any amount. All proceeds go directly to an organization that saves unwanted horses called ‘Amazing Grace Equine’.
