An East Falmouth man is under arrest and facing charges in connection with a shooting incident in Marshfield on Monday afternoon.
26-year-old Nicholas Lynch was arrested in Mashpee – police allege he was involved in an altercation with another man at “The Village at Marshfield” apartments just off of Route 139, when reports came in of “shots fired.”
A resident of the apartment complex called police around 2:08 pm to report a fight had occured and a man was seen leaving the area with a gun.
Marshfield police spoke with the victim in his apartment, who identified Lynch as the suspect. The victim said Lynch attacked him in his apartment, brandishing a hand-gun, hitting him over the head with it. The handgun discharged, with a bullet going throught the wall of the victim’s apartment and into a neighbor’s apartment. No one was hit with the stray gun shot.
Local and Massachusetts State Police were on the hunt for the suspect’s car – a 1999 honda which was seen heading towards Route 3 after the incident. Mashpee Police were able to arrest lynch at his job in Mashpee later the same day.
Lynch is facing a number of charges including: armed home invasion, assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, use of a firearm while committing a felony,illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
