Middleboro: Carver man killed in crash on Rt. 495

A Carver man was killed Thursday night in a 2-vehicle crash on Route 495 in Middleboro.

50-year-old George Victoria was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that at around 11 p.m. Thursday two vehicles were travelling south on 495, when Victoria’s vehicle left the road and hit a tree.

Police say the role of the second vehicle is still under investigation, and it’s not clear if the two collided. The driver of the second vehicle, a 51-year-old Westborough man, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The left lane of 495 south was closed for about 2 ½ hours. The crash is still under investigation by State Police.
