Plymouth: Former Fin Com member restored to seat on committee

Plymouth Town Moderator Steven Triffletti has announced he’s filled a vacancy on the Advisory and Finance Committee by appointing former member Linda Benezra.

Triffletti did not reappoint Linda Benezra and Pat Whalen to the Finance Committee when he made the annual appointments in June. One town meeting member publicly questioned Triffletti’s action as politically motivated. This, because both Benezra and Whalen played a successful role in limiting town-paid health insurance benefits of both the Moderator and Selectmen.

So, did this criticism play a role in the Town Moderator’s decision to restore Benezra to her seat on the Finance Committee?

“That had no influence on my decision. In my judgment, it was in the best interests of the town to appoint someone with experience—we already have nearly a third of the members without experience. And, given the fact that Linda has previously served in a leadership capacity, I chose Linda Benezra to fill the vacancy.”

The vacancy occurred because of the resignation of Wayne Dickson.
