Congressman Bill Keating will be heading to the ballot on November, hoping to grab the new 9th Congressional District seat.

Keating beat out fellow democrat Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter, of Fall River, and will now go on to face the winner of the tight Republican primary race Thursday night.

The newly drawn 9th Congressional district includes much of the South Shore, Cape Cod and the Islands, and the South Coast.

Congressman Keating moved from Quincy to his summer home in Bourne to live in the district.

Rep. Keating served in the Massachusetts Legislature from 1977 to 1998 and in 1999 became the Norfolk County district attorney before being elected to Congress in 2010.
