9th Congressional District: Republican Primary Unofficial Results

A tight race between Republican primary candidates looking to make the ballot in November for the newly drawn 9th Congressional District–too close to call as of Thursday night.

With the unofficial numbers available Thursday night, Adam Chaprales appeared to have a 50 vote lead over Christopher Sheldon. A recount is likely.

28-year-old Adam Chaprales of Barnstable is financial services manager, who served a single term as a Sandwich selectman. 34-year-old Christopher Sheldon, a business consultant from Plymouth and member of the Plymouth County Charter Commission, was making his first run for elected office.

The newly drawn 9th Congressional district includes much of the South Shore, Cape Cod and the Islands, and the South Coast. The winner of the Republican primary will face Democratic Congressman Bill Keating in November.
