The North-South Rivers Watershed Association held its first 5k race Sunday morning, and it’s being called a smashing success.
Organizer Paula Christie told WATD the runners didn’t let the rain throw a wet blanket on them.
88 people took part, raising an estimated $2,000 for the Watershed Association.
Christie said the purpose of the event was to raise awareness of the beauty of the South River, and that most people don’t know where it is.
Another race will be planned for next year.
