Middleborough: Town meeting tonight calls for adding to the rainy day fund

Tonight, at Middleborough Town Meeting, voters will be asked to put close to $1 million in the town’s rainy-day account and pay off an additional $200,000 in loans in an attempt to raise the town’s bond rating.

Voters will also be asked to approve a reorganization of the town’s zoning bylaws.

Also on the 24-article warrant: turning over jurisdiction of seven burial grounds to the Historical Commission; an agreement to provide water to customers in neighboring Lakeville; and a new landfill contract that selectmen say will save the town money in the future.

Town meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the high school.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time...
