South Shore: Accused home invader hit lottery jackpot

It turns out that a Middleboro man charged in an armed home invasion won a million dollar lottery jackpot.

Rashad Blount won the prize in 2007, after buying a scratch ticket.

He and another suspect, Richard Booker of Middleboro, are charged in the September 29th armed home invasion of a Milford couple who had just returned from their honeymoon.

The men are being held without bail pending another court appearance in November.

Authorities say Blount knocked on the victim’s door claiming he was delivering a pizza, then Booker entered the home, saying he was a police officer.

The suspects are accused of stealing some $7,000 received as wedding gifts that was kept in a bedroom safe.

If Blount is found guilty, the lottery says a felony conviction will not affect his $50,000 annual payday.
