South Shore: Female robber hits three banks

At bank branches at Stop and Shop grocery stores in Brockton and Whitman on Friday and Saturday, it was more like “Stop and Steal”.

The investigation continues into three robberies which police say all involved a woman who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

Police say, in each case, the woman handed a note to a teller demanding money.

The first of the two Brockton robberies of Citizens Bank branches happened shortly after 2:00 p.m. at the store on North Montello Street.

While no weapon was shown, the woman claimed she had a knife.

About 30 minutes later, a robbery by a woman at the Stop and Shop on Belmont Street was reported.

On Friday evening, a woman robbed the bank branch inside the Stop & Shop on Bedford Street in Whitman.

According to Whitman police, a dye pack exploded in that robbery.

The robber then dropped the cash and fled the scene.

In a press release, Whitman police said Friday’s heist could be connected to an incident in Stoughton last month.
