WESTFIELD, Mass. (AP) – Massachusetts State Police say a 3-month-old Westfield girl who was the focus of an Amber Alert has been found safe in Virginia with her mother.
State Police spokesman David Procopio said Wednesday afternoon that 28-year-old Cheryl Kozaczek, who doesn’t have custody of the baby, was arrested on I-95 in Waverly,VA. She’s facing charges including kidnapping.
Procopio said the mother apparently left Westfield around 1AM with 3-month-old Gabriella Kozaczek. He said Cheryl Kozaczek’s mother is the baby’s legal guardian.
He said a state police network was able to track Kozaczek through Maryland to the the town south of Richmond where she was arrested. It’s not immediately know who is representing her.
Procopio said family members gave police “credible” information the baby might be in danger. He said police don’t know why the mother headed south.
