Democrat Josh Cutler took the 6th Plymouth District seat Tuesday night, defeating Republican Karen Barry.
Cutler carried all three towns in the state representative district covering Hanson, Pembroke and most of Duxbury.
5-term State Representative Daniel Webster unexpectedly announced he would not be running for re-election in the race for the Sixth Plymouth District, after defeating Barry in the Republican primary. The Mass Republican Party then voted to nominate Barry to face Cutler.
This was Cutler’s second bid for the 6th Plymouth District seat. In 2010, he lost a close race to Webster.
