Longtime State Senate Bob Hedlund, of Weymouth will enter his 11th term in the Plymouth Norfolk seat after defeating a Democratic challenge Tuesday night.
Hedlund won out over Democrat Genevieve Davis, a financial consultant from Norwell, in her first run for office.
Hedlund has served as state senator from 1990 to 1992 and then 1994 to 2012.
The Plymouth-Norfolk District includes Weymouth, Hull, Hingham, Cohasset, Marshfield, Duxbury, Norwell and Scituate.
