Incumbent State Representative Jim Cantwell won his third term for the 4thPlymouth District covering Marshfield and Scituate, garnering 16,077 votes to beat challenger Steven Coulter at 7,434.

Cantwell  said it’s his positive campaign that helped him runaway with 68% of the vote.

“For us to get 68% of the vote is an incredible feeling. It just shows that we’ve been able to really reach put to folks and do positive things and be able to run a positive campaign. I’ve done it througout my career – we did it again here.

Cantwell also weighed in on what he calls his opponents negative campaign.

“I want listeners of WATD to know, when people run negative ads and do things beyond the pale – they get punished. It happened in my race and it’s happened in other races around here. People know the local candidates and when someone does something that is an attack and beyond the pale, people really react negatively to that and that’s a credit to the intelligence of our listeners of WATD,” Cantwell said.
