Hingham: Local teen arrested in weekend house break

Suspect William Donovan

An 18-year-old Hingham man was arrested after a resident on Golf View Dr. returned home Saturday night and found their rear door kicked in.

The residents showed officers where the rear kitchen door was shut but the door jam and trim had been damaged.

Officers noticed marks on the outside of the rear basement door where the suspect had kicked it but were unable to open that door.

They also found the rear wooden kitchen door had been fully kicked open and that was the point of entry.

The home abuts the South Shore Country Club, and police say there have been two similar break-ins in the area in recent months.

In all but one of the instances, alcohol was stolen.

The young man, William Donovan, was arrested at his home on Smith Rd., after an officer notice one of the bottles stolen from the home on Golf View Dr.

Donovan is due in Hingham District Court on Monday.

The other break-ins remain under investigation.
