Plympton: Elderly man missing since Tuesday found dead

An elderly Plympton man – missing since Tuesday morning has been found dead in a wooded area near his home.

Plympton officials confirm 79-year-old Lee Eckerd was found early Wednesday morning, after he was last seen alive Tuesday morning at about 11am, and reported missing several hours later on Tuesday night.

Police searched overnight, suspended the search for a few hours, and resumed Wednesday morning, and found Eckerd’s body later in the morning in a wooded area off Prospect Road.

Police used a telephone emergency-alert system to notify residents of Eckerd’s physical description Tuesday night.
