East Bridgewater: Crews battle 4-alarm fire in West Street home

More than 50 firefighters from eight area towns battled a 4-alarm fire in a 2 and a half story home at 33 West Street (Route 106) in East Bridgewater Tuesday night.

Neighbors say the home, just a short distance from the intersection of Route 18 was built in the late 1800′s.

Acting Chief Timothy Harren says the call of fire came in just before 6pm. Chief Harren notes four people were displaced due to the fire.

Crews from East Bridgewater, Bridgewater, West Bridgewater, Brockton, Whitman, Hanson, Halifax, and several other towns have been called in to battle the blaze.

The State Department of Fire Services Rehab unit was requested to the scene right around 7 p.m.
