Kingston: 6 Silver Lake Middle School students transported to hospital

A dress rehearsal for a chorus concert went awry Wednesday afternoon at Silver Lake Middle School.

A female student fainted during the rehearsal and was taken to Jordan Hospital for minor injuries. But according to Kingston Fire Chief Bob Heath, five other students were also transported to the hospital. Chief Heath said the five students were traumatized from seeing the female student faint that they also had fainting episodes, creating a chain reaction.

He noted that the air quality in the middle school’s auditorium, where the students were rehearsing, was tested and came back normal. He also mentioned that there are no structural problems with the auditorium stage which would cause someone to faint or fall.

Due to the number of students in need of hospitalization, crews from Duxbury, Pembroke, Plymouth, and Halifax were on scene at Silver Lake Middle School.
