Scituate: Fire Marshal investigates fire in empty Humarock home

The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fire in the Humarock section of Scituate Thursday afternoon.

Scituate Fire Captain Alfred Elliot said they got the call for a fire just after 3:30 p.m. in an unoccupied 2 ½ story home at 204 Central Ave. The fire was contained to one room, and put out by 4 p.m.

Captain Elliot said they don’t know the cause of the fire, and the State Fire Marshal was called to scene to investigate.

Following the rash of suspected arson fires around the South Shore in past months, Capt. Elliot said they aren’t ruling anything out.

But as for actually calling this fire “suspcious”?

“I’d wait for the report to come out from the Fire Marshal’s Office,” said Elliot.
