Cohasset’s former Town Manager, Mike Coughlin, left the job under duress last March. Selectmen quickly appointed Mike Milanowski, a management consultant who had served on several town government committees, as the interim manager. Since then, Milanowski has led the effort to reverse a looming deficit and upgraded several functions of town government.
“He’s done an excellent job,” Selectman Leland Jenkins said.
Selectmen met briefly in executive session before their regular meeting Tuesday night. In open session, they signed a new contract with Milanowski Tuesday night continuing his role as Acting Town Manager. The new contract runs through 2013.
The town’s act establishing the job of Town Manager prohibits a town employee, such as Milanowski, from appointment as a full-time Town Manager. Town Meeting will consider several revisions to that 15-year-old act in April.
