East Bridgewater: Full-day kindergarten costs may go up

It’s not what parents of young children want to hear, especially during hard times.

Come fall, tuition could jump as much as $300 for full-day kindergarten in East Bridgewater.

The principal of Central School wants to raise yearly rates to $3,000 from $2,700, and a school committee vote is expected on Thursday.

Principal Gina Williams says the increase is needed to reduce class sizes, and would cover salaries and school supplies.

There are currently 75 children enrolled in three full-day kindergarten classes.

Half-day kindergarten is free.
