Plymouth Selectmen approved an agreement this week with the New England Collegiate Baseball League, or NECBL, for the Plymouth Pilgrims to use Forges Field.
The brand new team called the Plymouth Pilgrims will begin play this summer on the lighted Babe Ruth baseball diamond at Forges Field. Town Manager Melissa Arrighi:
“The New England Collegiate Baseball League, we’re excited to say, is looking to come to Plymouth, establish an office and also use Forges Field as the facility to have these pretty wonderful games that will bring in quite a few tourists.”
Arrighi worked out the license agreement with the NECBL for the use of the field:
“They actually, rather than paying us a fee base, which normally you would if you were using the Forges Field facility, they’ve agreed to do some significant improvements on the site including some bleachers and a large score board that we’re very excited about.”
Other improvements to the field in lieu of an actual fee payment, include installation of a temporary press box unit, a public address system and a temporary bullpen area.
