According to police, Christopher McCambly sped off in a Ford Explorer Sunday around 5AM after officers arrived at his Weymouth home to investigate a report of domestic violence.
One Weymouth officer chased after him but McCambly tried to evade police by pulling into the driveway of another Weymouth home and turning off his headlights. As the officer pulled in behind him, McCambly rammed the officer’s cruiser which sent the cruiser into the woods where it hit a tree.
McCambly continued to flee, leading police through Holbrook and then Braintree where the chase eventually ended. The Weymouth man hit a utility pole and his vehicle caught fire. He was pulled out of the burning vehicle by a police officer. Both McCambly and the Weymouth officer who’s cruiser was struck were sent to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
McCambly is facing a slew of charges including attempted murder by strangulation, assault with intent to rape, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of cocaine.
