The recent school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut is prompting some South Shore educators to be proactive.
School officials in the Whitman-Hanson district are planning to meet with parents Tuesday night to discuss the issue of safety.
The decision to meet face-to-face was made after mailings sent home outlining school safety procedures still left a lot of concern.
There will be free child care available at the meeting, which will be recorded for later broadcast on local cable.
The gathering is for parents, guardians and other residents, and will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School.
