Whitman: Local man in I.C.U. following pedestrian accident

A Whitman man is hospitalized after he was hit by a pickup truck while crossing a street in town.

Police said 53-year-old Thomas Turner was not in the crosswalk when he was struck late Friday afternoon as he made his way across South Ave. near the commuter rail station.

Turner was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and a spokeswoman told WATD Sunday afternoon that he is in intensive care.

The driver of the truck, 37-year-old Nathan Wheeler, has not been charged.

The accident remains under investigation.
