Hanover: Man rescues 14-year-old who fell through ice

A man out riding a bike in Hanover Thursday afternoon helped to save a girl who fell through ice on Forge Pond.

Hanover Fire officials says Richard Cullen of Scituate jumped into the icy water to save the 14-year-old girl who fell through the ice.

Two other passersby, Russ Reynolds of Marshfield and Ross Ferguson of Hanover, helped pull the two out of Forge Pond.

No serious injuries were reported.

In a tweet, the Hanover Fire Department gave thanks Ferguson and Reynolds for their assistance in the rescue , and issued a reminder to stay off the ice. They say, even after a long spell of below freezing temps, currents can leave areas of thin ice.
