Whitman: Town Hall may move to four-day schedule

Whitman selectmen will discuss a plan to move Town Hall to a four-day-a-week schedule at their meeting Tuesday night.

The proposal would close the building on Fridays while keeping the expanded 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. schedule on Tuesdays.

The Whitman Town Administrator says department heads are having trouble coordinating work schedules on Fridays.

In some cases, offices have only one employee working, or the office is closed.

Whitman officials say the Friday closing will bring better service, enhance building security, and save a little money on utility costs.
