Abington: Residents interview Town Manager candidates

Abington residents had a rare opportunity Thursday evening to interview candidates for Town Manager before Selectmen interview them. Participants each received a sheet with brief descriptions of the four finalists. Each finalist spoke briefly then sat at tables in the main room of the Senior Center and conversed with the people who would pay their salary.

The four finalists are William DeLibero, former Town Administrator of Charlestown, Rhode Island, Richard Lafond, current Town Administrator of Carver and former Executive Secretary of Abington, Grady Miller, former Town Manager of Narragansett, Rhode Island and Paul Shew, former City Manager of Rye, New York.

A search committee received 34 applications for the job and interviewed seven. Selectmen will interview the four finalists Saturday in open session and make a decision at their regular meeting March 25. Online feedback from those who participated Thursday will factor in the decision.
