Braintree: Power restored after massive Easter outage

It was a dark Easter for many Braintree residents, for part of the day, anyway.

Some two-thirds of the city was left without power shortly after 1:30 p.m.  Sunday.

Many businesses, including those near South Shore Plaza, were forced to close.

The Braintree Electric Light Department said a piece of equipment in the power transmission system failed.

The cause of the failure is unclear, and power was fully restored by 3:oo p.m.

West Braintree was not affected.
