A 19-year-old Brockton man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month.
Franklin Kapaia was arraigned at Brockton District Court Thursday. He’s being held without bail for the murder of 32-year-old Eric Dillard.
Brockton police responded to the shooting on Montello Street around 6p.m. on March 6th and found Dillard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Dillard was taken to a local hospital but by 6:30p.m., he was pronounced dead.
The Massachusetts State Police Stop Team executed a no-knock search and arrest warrant at the Brockton man’s apartment Thursday and arrested Kapaia without incident.
Kapaia is charged with murder and attempted armed robbery.
“The case has been under investigation by the Mass State Police and the Brockton police. They’ve done an absolutely tremendous job working around the clock to make sure they apprehend the individual who did this,” said Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz after Kapaia’s arraignment
Kapaia is scheduled to return to court next month for a probable cause hearing.
