W. Bridgewater: Police nab dozens of texters on main drag

It was a busy weekend for West Bridgewater police enforcing the state’s ban on texting while driving.

43 divers were slapped with $100 fines within a four-hour period on Saturday.

Officers focused on a stretch of Rte. 106 where distracted driving has been a problem.

In all, more than 75 people were stopped.

This is the second time in as many months that West Bridgewater police have been targeting drivers who text.

The first time, more than 50 people were stopped and 37 fines were issued.

Every driver was given a flyer saying their court case and fine would be dismissed if they attend a safety night later this month.
