Bridgewater: Single-vehicle crash into utility pole results in serious injuries

Bridgewater officials believe a medical condition was the cause of a single car accident Thursday. Around 11AM, a vehicle struck a utility pole in front of 1239 Plymouth Street.

“One occupant (in the crash) was the driver. The vehicle sustained heavy damage,” said  Deputy Fire Chief Tom Levy

According to Levy, the male driver sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A medflight helicopter was requested but was unavailable so the driver was ground transported to the trauma facility at Boston Medical Center.

The driver has a known medical condition that officials suspect triggered him to lose control of his vehicle.
