Brockton: School Committee member plans to make a major announcement

A member of the Brockton school committee is planning to make a major announcement during his campaign kick off on Friday night. Bill Carpenter is considering a possible run for mayor or seeking a third term on the Brockton School Committee. If he decides to enter the mayor’s race, he will join Ward 7 City Councilor Chris MacMillan and Ron Matta, who are also looking to challenge incumbent Mayor Linda Balzotti. Carpenter would not indicate which way he was leaning, but says he will share some insight with those who attend the kickoff.

“I will be outlining for the folks who attend, my vision for  the city of Brockton,” said Carpenter. “I believe that we’re a city at a crossroads, the economy here is difficult, property values are at record lows, we continue to have issues with crime and basically I will outline my blueprint for the future of the city of Brockton.”

According to Carpenter, his expects the event to draw plenty of interest.
“We’re expecting a large crowd, we’re expecting a lot of excitement and really I think I will be speaking to friends and supporters from my heart, I do not plan to use a script,” Carpenter said. “I plan to share my thoughts as to where this city should be going, how we get there, having a plan as to how to do it and offering the voters in the city a choice to install leadership that will make Brockton a 21st century city.”
Carpenter’s campaign event is being held Friday night at Joe Angelos Café in downtown Brockton and gets underway at 6pm.
