A Carver man is accused of lying about a break-in at his apartment last Halloween and scamming an insurance company.

Police said 27-year-old Topher Bell told them someone broke in through a bedroom window of his Tremont St. apartment and robbed him, for which he filed a fraudlent insurance claim…and got $13,000.

However, after a months-long investigation, police said Bell made the whole thing up, and was paid for items that were never taken.

Bell was also charged with drug possession.

Authorities said the investigation continues and that more charges may be filed.
