Hanover: Town Manager hangs on to job by a thread

Former Bridgewater Town Manager Troy Clarkson is making news again.

This time, he’s battling selectmen in Hanover, where he’s been Town Manager for the past year.

The board has taken what turned out to be a split vote on whether to fire Clarkson from his $125,000 per year job.

At issue is the resignation of selectman Gary Young and his subsequent appointment to the full-time job of assistant treasurer.

Clarkson reportedly says the town’s lawyer was consulted before the appointment was made, but selectmen are upset because of concerns that might be raised by the perception of a board member getting a town position.

Clarkson’s time in Bridgewater was marred by bitter battles with the Town Council.
