Pembroke: Town Meeting to vote on the budget and medical marijuana

Medical marijuana dispensaries will be in the spotlight at tonight’s Pembroke Annual Town Meeting. One article on the warrant would impose a one-year moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries. Another article would restrict the dispensaries to a section of town close to the Marshfield town line.

Voters will also be asked if they want to borrow $11.5 million for road repairs that would be completed within 3 to 5 years

The proposed operating budget for the next fiscal year is $56.5 million, with about half that amount for the town’s schools.

Also on the warrant is a Community Preservation Act article for $215,000 to preserve land off Monroe Street for open space.

Town Meeting is at 7:30 at Pembroke High School on Learning Lane.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
