Following longtime Selectman Joe Norton’s decision not to run for re-election, three residents submitted their nomination papers for the race.

Ann Burbine is a former planning board member who ran for selectmen in 2010 and was defeated.

James Gilmore is also running. He lost a bid to become a state representative in the 4th Plymouth District five years ago.

The third candidate is Martin O’Toole, who had run an unsuccessful write-in campaign last year against Selectmen Rick Murray.

Norton has been a member of the Board of Selectmen since the mid-1980’s.

There are no other contested town races on the ballot.

Polls will be open today from 7 a.m.until 8:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Scituate High School.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
