Whitman: Man charged in knife attack on couple; one victim hospitalized

A Whitman man faces multiple charges, including assault with intent to murder, for allegedly attacking a couple with a knife at bar on early Thursday morning, sending one to the hospital with serious injuries.

Whitman Deputy Police Chief Tim Hanlon says they received a report of a stabbing at The Office Bar at 121 South Ave at 12:53 a.m.

Police arrested 50-year-old Clifford T. Solomon Jr., of Perry Ave. Whitman, for allegedly attacking a man and his girlfriend after an altercation in the bar.

The man suffered stab wounds to his head and torso, and was taken transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The woman sustained a hand injury and was not transported to the hospital.

Hanlon says Solomon is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Brockton District on two counts of assault and battery with dangerous weapon, two counts of assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery.
